This seminar will feature direct instruction from Roy Shingen Goldberg Sensei, allowing for an incredible opportunity for growth and development in this beautiful art of Daito Ryu as well as within your own body. It can benefit both your training in Daito Ryu as well as in any other form of martial arts or physical practice. Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu is a Ko-ryu, an old style art, once kept secret and shared only among the Samurai of ancient Japan. It is a great honor to train in this art, an art which is taught directly through feeling, unable to be learned from books or videos.

This event is open to all martial artists and schools and is inclusive of all skill and ability levels. Experience in breakfalling or taking ukemi is suggested but not required to attend. Weekly classes are held here in Hikari Dojo as a probationary Study Group under Roy Goldberg Sensei sharing the art of Daito Ryu which can help to prepare the serious practitioner with an understanding of some of the basic techniques of Daito Ryu so as to help prepare you for greater understanding of the teachings presented in this seminar. Attendance of these weekly classes is not required for attending this seminar, however - all are welcome!

Roy Shingen Goldberg Sensei is the highest-ranking student of Hayawo Kiyama Shihan, the President and Chief Instructor of NADRAKK (North American Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu Kodo Kai). He was given the name of Shingen by the Menkyo Kaiden when he was given his Hiden Mokuroku, the first scroll of transmission in Daito Ryu. Goldberg Sensei was awarded the rank of 7th Dan and certified with the rare teaching license Kyoju Dairi by the Kodo Kai Menkyo Kaiden. He is the first and only non-Japanese to earn this rank from the Hombu Dojo in Kitami, Japan. In June, 2016 he was presented with the prestigious Hi Ogi, the 3rd scroll in the transmission of Daito Ryu.

Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu is a 1,200-year-old samurai martial art. It has directly influenced the development of many popular martial arts, such as Aikido, Shorinji Kempo, Hakko Ryu Jujutsu and Hapkido.Daito Ryu’s core principles and focus on subtle manipulations of balance will complement and enrich any martial arts training. Once a secret art, passed generation to generation through the Takeda clan, the system of Daito Ryu Aiki Ju-jutsu was revived in the late 19th century by Sokaku Takeda, 32nd in line of the Takeda family.
